Hello, World

Every system I’ve ever found interesting looked like noise before it looked like structure. That’s the gap this blog lives in: the space between “I have no idea why this works” and “oh, that’s why this works.” Distributed systems, platform engineering, the occasional detour into music theory or whatever else I’m obsessing over that week. Expect notes from that gap.

But concepts are cheap without scar tissue. So alongside the “here’s an idea,” there will be “here’s a time this idea cost me a weekend.” Stories from fifteen years across Samsung, Amazon, and Maersk: the outages that taught me more than the architecture reviews did, the decisions that looked wrong until they didn’t, the moments a senior engineer said one sentence that rewired how I think. Less lecture, more field notes.

There’s a third thing going on here too, less tidy than the first two: this is also a journal, kept in public on purpose. It’s easier to keep your thinking private: half-formed, unreviewed, safely wrong where no one’s watching. I’m choosing the less comfortable version instead, because writing something down where it can be read means I can’t quietly round my own edges off. That discomfort is the point. I’d rather grow in the open than stay polished in private.

If you’re here for the structure, the stories, or just to watch someone think out loud, you’re in the right place. More soon.
